The Omani rial (code: OMR) is the official currency of the Sultanate of Oman. This currency has been issued by the Central Bank of Oman since 1977. The Omani rial is the fourth most overvalued currency in the world along with the Kuwaiti dinar, the Bahraini dinar and the old Maltese lira. As for the Omani rial bank notes, we only accept notes of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 rial notes. The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has issued new banknote denominations; 20 Rials, 10 Rials, 5 Rials, 1 Rial for circulation in the market. This issuance is a completion of the sixth issue of the Omani banknotes (1441 H-2020G) which began by circulating the 50 Rials banknote as of July last year 2020.Notably; the new banknotes will be legal tender and circulate side by side with other banknotes currently in circulation starting from January 11, 2021.
